After acquiring Lone Star Gas, changing the company’s name to TXU Gas Distribution and investing hundreds of millions of dollars to expand and improve the company’s natural gas delivery infrastructure, TXU Gas Distribution faced the ambitious task of adjusting rates in the approximately 460 Texas cities in which the company serves customers. Anticipating significant challenges in managing the process of seeking rate increases in these cities, TXU Gas Distribution retained Bustin & Co. in 1999 to serve as the rate project's lead communications and municipal relations strategist. Through the end of 2001, the multi-year statewide rate adjustment initiative has produced more than $50 million in annual natural gas distribution rate increases.
